It is important that we grow up with the understanding that we don’t get everything we want out of life. Sometimes we need to really fight for our desires while sometimes we just have to find a different mode of dealing. We do not want regrets. We want to know that we stood up and we went after the things that mattered most to us, regardless of the outcome.
Once upon a time you could show up under their window with and pluck away at your Ibanez acoustic guitar. You would be heralded a romantic. Now you can be charged with trespassing and be slapped with a restraining order.
On the extreme flip side you can rally the drummer and that guy that plays the Ibanez electric guitar and you can spend your time trying to cut the love of your life an entire CD. This might be a little over the top, but before you chuck your own Ibanez acoustic electric guitar to the floor, remember that often moderation and tact gives you the chance to express yourself.
If it’s not guitars then it could be artistic creation of any kind. In some cases it could be a single act of self humiliation to drive the point home that you just don’t want the love relationship to dwindle away and die. Emotion can be a powerful driving force and sometimes we just don’t think enough before we act.
A single act of devotion can be seen as an attempt to be expressive. Multiple acts, especially intimate or intrusive acts, can be seen as stalking. It’s hard to respect the request that we leave the one we feel we were meant to be with alone when we have such a driving force of love to offer. When you violate personal space on a repetitive basis you can be pretty much assured that no one finds it romantic.
Emotional individuals do not always give full consideration to what might be expected. Of course, you don’t wish to cause harm but your drive and desire have a harmful effect when your pleas become repetitive and personal. Remember that the love relationship is not a guarantee, and that you can only express yourself so loudly before society says that’s too much.
Romantic gestures are a sweet plea when a love relationship is dying. Obsessive gestures can be downright scary for the recipient. Take a step back, give it a little room. The most romantic move in the world doesn’t matter if it is never heard.
