Dating possibilities for a gay man or a straight woman to use aren’t really all that different from each other.

The whole dating thing can be more than a bit scary. However, it really can be one of the most entertaining parts of finding the right relationship with the perfect gay man or straight guy.

1. A classic date proposal is going for a round or two of miniature golf. Mini-golf is a great way to engage in an invigorating (without being strenuous) activity but still have a solid conversation. Golfing is an intimate enough game that will allow you to get to know each other while not just sitting in a noisy restaurant. Regardless of whether you’re any good at the sport or not, flirting over your skills or lack thereof is a great way to lighten things up and get off to a casual start. Just be certain to leave your overly competitive side at your house.

2. If you live around a major city, a great date is to go for a night on the town. A downtown area always has plenty of different activities to keep you pleasantly occupied. Whether you’re going in and out of stores, or walking through a park, the environment around you will provide for a great time, and some great memories. The exciting atmosphere of the city will also perk up lots of easy conversation, and is a terrific way to learn about each other. You may even do something that’s unique to the city, such as a stage performance, check out the skyscrapers, or go to the pier.

3. If you two are energetic and able, you might consider going on a robust hike. Most towns have forest preserves or nature centers that are a wonderful place to take a walk together. The change of scenery will surely be later recalled as a fun date, an it can stimulate conversation about nature. A vigorous walk is great for having the natural environment spark a romantic mood. You might bring along a picnic basket and eat together surrounded by the forest.

4. Think seasonally! In the summer, go to a baseball game. It doesn’t matter if there are no major league teams near you; the minor leagues or watching a local soft ball team can be just as much fun. In the winter, try sledding if you are in a cold weather zone. It’s casual, and it requires absolutely no skills. In the spring, pack a lunch and take a long drive to see the newly blooming flowers. In the fall, I would vote for a football game (playing or watching), but maybe going to a hilltop and picnicking while you admire the foilage might be more the thing for you and your guy.

Dating truly should be an exciting part of being in or starting a new relationship. Establishin a social dating environment is important in order to get to know the other person. After all, you might not always remember that sub-par movie you viewed, but you’re sure to recall the enjoyment of any of these fun date ideas.
